Informacion general del curso

Curso de inglés para profesores con experiencia previa como preparación del DELTA - Diploma en la enseñanza del idioma inglés a estudiantes adultos y que se lleva a cabo en el mismo centro de estudios. About the revised DELTA The Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults has undergone its first major revision since it was introduced in 1998. Under the revised scheme, the DELTA now consists of three separate modules and this modular framework aims to provide an accessible professional development programme with flexible entry points. Candidates may choose to do any or all of the modules and have the opportunity to focus on a specialist area of teaching in Modules Two and Three. Each module is assessed independently and is separately certificated. Achievement of a Pass in all three modules confers the status of a full Delta qualification. The scheme is administered by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate who approve centres to run courses for Module 2, and every course is moderated by an external assessor. How you qualify? You must: Hold an initial teaching qualification enabling you to teach English in your own context; have a range of experience of teaching different levels in one or more contexts; have a level of written and spoken English which enables you to teach advanced level students (up to and including level C1 on the CEFR); be able to research and present written assignments to the required standard What are the different modules? Module 1 focuses on the background to teaching and learning. Module 2 focuses on developing professional practice. Module 3 focuses on a specialist option (e.g. YL, ESOL, ESP, 1-1). How you are assessed Module 1 is assessed via a written examination. Module 2 is assessed via a portfolio of coursework, including observed lessons, written assignments, and an externally assessed lesson observation. Module 3 is assessed via an extended written assignment. So, what does this mean in practice? Module 1 Key areas of content cover language acquisition, different approaches and methodologies, problems that learners have with language and language skills and principles of assessment. During the course, we will focus on these areas and on examination techniques so that you will be ready to sit the examination in the month immediately following the end of the course. Module 2 Key areas of content cover the language learner and context, evaluating, selecting and exploiting resources and materials and managing and supporting learning. You will also observe and evaluate other teachers' lessons and look at opportunities for your own professional development. Our courses have input sessions on the key content areas in the mornings, and teaching/observation in the afternoons. The module includes both non-assessed (e.g. observations) and assessed work. The assessed work consists of five assignments, four of which include an assessed teaching component. One of the assignments which includes a teaching component is externally assessed, all the other assignments are internally assessed and externally moderated. Module 3 Key areas of content cover the principles of syllabus design, designing syllabus and teaching programmes to meet the needs of learners in a specific context, the principles and practice of testing and assessment and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and quality of courses and programmes of study. Candidates complete a written assignment on a specialism relevant to their current or intended teaching context and this assignment consists of the design and evaluation of a short course programme. During the course we will look at principles of syllabus design and the requirements of the assignment, so that you can complete and submit it in the month following the end of the course.
